About PeriScops

In its PHARE 20.25 and 100 plans, the FNRS committed to further evolving its regulations and support mechanisms for researchers in order to align more closely with the principles of open science. In addition to this initiative, the institution also undertook the project of highlighting the contributions of researchers from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and enhancing their visibility across all research fields, whether in the exact and natural sciences, the humanities and social sciences, or the life and health sciences.

It is within this context that the PeriScops project was born. This public web platform showcases publication data from the five universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. The portal is built by harvesting metadata from these universities, which have adopted their own methods for populating their institutional repositories. It serves as a showcase for French-speaking Belgian research to the international scientific community.

This platform is the result of extensive efforts carried out through close collaboration between the universities, under the financial and operational coordination of the FNRS. The technical development was entrusted to ULiège Library, which successfully implemented the project. This initiative reflects the collective commitment of the academic institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to open science and the promotion of research.
